Development Work - 6/28/11

PROGRESS UPDATE:
Each team member reviewed the client survey from Mike, and came up with a list of questions for the client interview on Wed 6/29. My questions were based on the full Client Survey form and Expanded Tech Check from Web 105, as well as an examination of the client's existing site. I focused on development issues for the site, and left design questions to Erin and Matt.

WHAT LEARNED / STEPS TO BE TAKEN:
My questions:
1. What do you mean when you say you’d like the website “more dynamic” and “interactive”? For example, does this just mean graphical improvements like more videos or jQuery slideshows, or discussion boards and forms for user feedback?

2. Will the person responsible for maintaining the site require any training in WordPress?

3. What kind of database is currently in use?

4. What kind of efforts have been made to increase web presence, in order to attract more donors and volunteers/delegates (e.g. SEO)?

5. How do you want to “provide a resource for education”? (e.g. with a Wiki, or just the blog?)

6. Any more specific target demographics for typical site visitor / patron?

7. For the Products section, would a simple WordPress shopping cart plugin using PayPal be sufficient? Any expansion of the Amazon listings?

TIME SPENT: 1.25 hours.
